The Importance of Education

Ms. Bhagyashree Dassani is an actor who is near and dear to many an Indian heart.  She began her career while still a child, dabbling in television roles, but it was her role as "Suman" of "Maine Pyar Kiya", which catapulted her to stardom. Interestingly, Mrs. Dassani hails from a royal family: the Patwardhans of Maharashtra. Her father is Maharaja of Sangli. Mrs. Dassani spoke on a variety of topics, including her background in Bollywood, much to the beneficiaries' delight.  Of most importance  though, was her discussion on education and the role it played in her life.  She recounted how education was incorporated into her shooting schedule when she was a young woman and how she would regularly attend classes before and after shooting.   Mrs. Dassani emphasized education as a key factor in empowerment.  Another important message this iconic Indian actor passed along to the beneficiaries was that it is possible to become empowered while still playing an active role as a homemaker.   She touched on the importance of women's roles as caretakers of their families.  During the question and answer session all had a good laugh when Mrs. Dassani was repeatedly asked for secrets on nutrition and exercise regimes.
