
Navratri Festival Celebration- Tardeo 2024

Navaratri is an annual Hindu festival observed in honor of the goddess Durga, an aspect of Adi Parashakti, the supreme goddess. For Shaivites and Shaktas, Durga is a form or actually is Goddess Parvati. It spans over nine nights, first in the month of Chaitra, and again in the month of Ashvin.At the Tardeo centre women enjoyed the festival in the Bengali tradition & culture. A red & white them with Bengali saree were draped. Programme began with blowing the divine conch followed by prayers. Women took active part in the Sindoor Khela. This ritual symbolizes the strength of women in protecting their families from harm and is thought to help resolve disputes and promote peace. Women & staff made decorative rangolis with natural flowers,pounded the flowers on plain cloth to get the design/color of that specific flowers, sticked flowers on croquis and tried making difernet desings, made book mark with natural flowers dfried, made garlands etc. The beneficiaries & staff decorated the centre to showcase the famous Mullick Ghat phool market the Howrah district of Kolkatta. At the end of the programme women enjoyed the traditional garba dance and ate the delicious snacks.
